The Need for Diversity
Patients are more likely to find a match with donors of similar ethnicity. Those with ethnically diverse backgrounds often face challenges in finding suitable donors.
Currently the make up of the Australian donor registry is about 60-80% North Caucasian and the rest are split across small percentages of different ethnicities.
We need more young donors, especially from diverse backgrounds, to ensure every patient has a chance at finding a life-saving match.

Our goal is to educate people about stem cell donation, so in and around any of the activities you choose to do, we encourage sharing the information throughout your club in many different ways; for example posters in clubrooms, an article in the company newsletter or other internal communications, playing a short video during a meeting or morning tea, sharing the cause through your club’s social media account and more. We will give you the resources and tools needed to educate your club and encourage those who are eligible to join, with some groups completing their cheek swab to join the donor registry (dependent on availability).
